Gifts that speak for themselves

They say a picture is worth a thousand words...

so what is a picture with words worth?
The holidays are a great time to show you care. Gifts are really just another way to show gratitude, appreciation and love. But sometimes it's hard to find the words to express what people mean to you--being eloquent is a lot harder than being loquacious. We've got great gifts that can help you express yourself without saying a word.

Sure it is the thought that counts, but so do the words. Shop now at Urbangeneralstore.com for great gifts that say a lot.

Hurry. Only Two Days Left to Upload your favorite Pics of your Mom!

We've shared our Mom's Picks...

Now share your #momspix
Share a picture of your mother with Urban General Store.

May is Mother's Month and we are celebrating all types of Moms. All month long.

Urbangeneralstore.com's featured products are called the Mom's Picks -- some of our favorite gifts, inspired by our real mothers.

Now, we'd like to see your #momspix! Share a picture of your mother (or a mother) with her favorite item, gift, keepsake... really, we hope for any funny, fun or sweet picture of your mother or what a "mom" means to you. Even better if she's pictured with a product we sell at Urbangeneralstore.com or ENJOY, AN URBAN GENERAL STORE.

Share the picture with us by May 31, 2013 with the hashtag #momspix on...

  • Instagram (instagram.com/urbangeneralstore)
  • post it on our Facebook page (facebook.com/urbangeneralstore)
  • pin it on Pinterest (pinterest.com/urbangenstore)
  • tweet it on Twitter (twitter.com/urbangenstore) or
  • email it to us at mom[at]urbangeneralstore.com
We will select two winners (chosen at random) from all submissions to win one of our Mom's favorite products from Urban General Store, either a Mini GurglePot or a Mama Bear Mug by Jane Jenni.

Snap a pic of your "Mom" or "a mom" or something "motherly", share it on one of the sites with the hashtag #momspix by May 31, 2013, for a chance to win.

But regardless of how you send it, don't forget to tag us and add the hashtag #momspix by May 31, 2013!

No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. Winners will be selected at random from all entrants. Email mom@urbangeneralstore.com for more details. Contest ends at midnight (CST) on May 31, 2013.

Presidential Quirks

In honor of President's Day, we would like to take a moment to remember two great men, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
Sure, they were both exceptional presidents, but who had quirkier quirks? To try to answer this, we offer this rather trivial trivia competition between Washington and Lincoln using some of our favorite products from Urbangeneralstore.com.

George: First president with false teeth...

Abe: First president to wear a beard...

Wooden teeth = splinters inside the mouth (ouch). Bonus: beards are hip.

George: Notably fond of whiskey, gin and cocktails...

Abe: Notably fond of going to the theater...

Lincoln's love of the theater didn't end so well.

George: "Could not tell a lie" about cutting down a cherry tree

Abe: "Walked for miles" to refund a customer

Washington's legend is probably just that, but Lincoln's honesty was legendary.

George: Favorite food was ice cream

Abe: Favorite food was apple pie

Being a fan of ice cream before refrigeration shows a true sweet (albeit wooden) tooth!
